Key Programme

The programme was first introduced to the school in September 2011. 12 pupils are selected annually from year 11 to represent the school in a cross-border, cross-community programme. The course takes place over 4 residential sessions and enables pupils to develop:

  • Cross-community links
  • Interpersonal skills among peers
  • Professional skills
  • Set up a trading company

900 pupils take part in the Key Programme and 12 lucky pupils are chosen to represent Ireland at a business conference in Canada. James Proctor from our school was chosen and said that “This was the best experience of my life.” The trip was fully paid for and included a nights stay and sight seeing in New York. Then onto Canada were James met and interacted with pupils from all corners of the world and even designed a residential building. James said that “Without Key I wouldn’t have been chosen. The experience was thoroughly enjoyable and one I will never forget.”
