The year 8 Gaelic football team, managed by their year head Mr Campbell, produced an unbeaten run of form to capture this year’s Ulster College’s Br Newell Cup defeating St Killian’s in the final on Friday past.
The team beat St Killian’s, St Patrick’s Banbridge and St Columbanus’s to advance to a semi final meeting with St Pat’s Lisburn. An inspired goal from Kian Storey late in the final against St Killian’s allowed the Hightown boys to recapture the Br Newell cup. There were some great performances all round but player of the tournament went to Captain Declan Breen who protected the ERC defence at all times from full back! Well done to all involved!
