Mr Berne's Friday message
Good afternoon everyone. I hope everyone is safe and well. Happy Friday!
The first week of remote learning has come to an end. I have been blown away by the efforts of our dedicated staff, pupils and parents in the first few days. We are determined to provide innovative and engaging learning experiences for our pupils and put into practice our learning from the first lockdown. Already this week, staff have been posting videos, making use of audio to teach and we have even started to trial live lessons. The pupils were an absolute credit to the school from March onwards and we have already noted increased engagement. Well done everyone.
However, we always want to improve in Edmund Rice College and we appreciate that remote learning can be extremely stressful. We would ask that all parents fill in this short survey by Tuesday 12th January at 3pm to help us improve our provision.

Based on this survey, we then plan to have a Parental Q&A webinar on Wednesday 13th January at 7pm to give you as much help as we can over the next few weeks. See the link below and details for the webinar will be sent on Monday.

A few pointers to remember over the next few weeks:
- Pupils should work from their daily timetable each day to provide some structure. The junior timetables have been uploaded into each form class Google Classroom. Work will be set in each of the subjects that our pupils would normally have when in school. Teachers will upload lessons into their subject classrooms the morning that they are due to teach the pupils. Pupils will find this work in each of their subject google classes.
- Pupils should not spend six hours a day completing work. Work should also be submitted at a reasonable time of the day. A small number of pupils have been submitting work in the early hours of the morning or very late at night. This is not healthy! It is important that our pupils find a balance.
- Teachers will interact with pupils on Google Classroom and provide feedback regularly.
- If you need any help, we are only a phone call away.
I am very proud of our entire school community as we make this very difficult transition once again. This will not last forever and together we can ensure that our pupils continue to thrive.
