Prize Night
On the first award ceremony as a co-educational school the school community came together on Prize Night to celebrate the pupils’ successes across a wide spectrum of College life.
Awards were made for achievements in academic work, sport, work experience and service to the school and to the wider community. It was a night of great pride not only for the students but also for their school, their families and their communities.
There is much to celebrate in Edmund Rice College and the range of awards presented on the night reflects the ethos of not only rewarding academic and sporting achievement but also rewarding endeavor, resilience and generosity of spirit. Nurturing these is what a good school is all about, ensuring each individual has an opportunity to contribute and get involved whilst developing self-esteem and a sense of citizenship and belonging.
A special welcome was given to the Guest Speaker Professor Tony Gallagher of Queens University. Mr Gallagher is a leading light in education in N Ireland particularly in recent years in the field of shared education. Edmund Rice College were delighted he had given up his time to be with us on our Prize Night.
