Key Stage 3 - Each student within key stage 3 receives one formal period of ICT each week. Students follow a structured three-year programme, which is designed to provide the pupils with the skills necessary to use the information technology facilities provided in all of their other subjects. This formal period compliments the work carried out in the other subjects and the work produced is submitted for the CCEA ICT Accreditation scheme. We have been consistently achieved 100% pass rate at level 6.
Each Student will study:
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Microsoft Access
- Practical use of Internet facilities
- Web Page Design
- Computer Hardware
- Digital Photography
The programme is practical in nature and each year builds upon and develops the skills taught in the previous year. At the end of the third year students can elect to study ICT at GCSE level.
Key Stage 4 - Students are presented with a choice at Key Stage 4. They may either elect to study Business and Communication Systems BCS or Applied GCSE.
BCS - This is a practical based subject, which combines the theory of computer systems with the practical use of computers within the business environment. This division is reflected in the structure of the exam with two thirds of the final marks graded on a practical exam which is computer based. This subject has enjoyed excellent success with 85% of students gaining grades A to C.
