Key Stage 3 and 4
The full content of the N.I. Common Curriculum is taught to all pupils over five years to G.C.S.E. standard. In Year 8 the boys receive four periods of science per week.
They will be in classes of around twenty and usually taught by the same teacher for the first three years of their college life. At the end of their Year 10 they will sit the external Key Stage 3 examinations.
All pupils are expected to take G.C.S.E. at the end of their five years. This will be a modular course spanning two years leading to the award of Single (one) or Double Award (two) G.C.S.E. grades.
Science Staff and Labs.
There are four Science teachers who together with a laboratory assistant deliver the common curriculum. We also have four very well equipped and modern science laboratories with ancillary storage and prep. Rooms.
Examination Results.
The G.C.S.E. results 2002 obtained by pupils in Science both single and double award were outstanding. They compared very favourably with the national average for the subject and were the highest in the school for a subject taken by all the pupils.
